Located on a beautiful leafy green campus, Morningside High School is a beautiful setting for students in grades 9-12 to pursue academic goals in a supportive school environment.

In the fall of 2005, Morningside was the first school in the Inglewood Unified School District to begin restructuring into Smaller Learning Communities (SLCs). Each new student now belongs to his or her own SLC—a small group of students who stay with the same teachers for core English and math classes for the first two years. The result is a closer, family-like environment with more personalized support for students.

Morningside High School is also on the move on state tests. In 2005, students made an impressive 36-point growth on the Academic Performance Index. Morningside offers six different Advanced Placement subjects (2006), as well as Honors and A-G courses required for entrance into the California State University and University of California systems. In fact, in 2005, Inglewood ranked #5 in all of LA County for the number of A-G courses offered. Through the College Summit program, students are provided with college visits and assistance with college and financial aid applications. Academic intervention classes, after-school tutoring, and California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE) preparation classes help ensure that no student is left behind.

Morningside has a strong standards-based fine arts program including classes in photography, ceramics, art, band, and dance. Clubs and extracurricular activities include MESA math/science, Science Club, Peer Mediators, Student Council, Omega Gents, MEChA, Black Student Union, Polynesian Club, Guitar Club, French Club, Gay-Straight Alliance, yearbook, football, soccer, basketball, softball, baseball, volleyball, tennis, cross country, track and field, drill team, and cheerleading, to name a few. Morningside also honors students’ diverse heritages through a variety of cultural celebrations.
